Adult education is an important part of continuing to grow as a person. The Library at Cedar Creek Lake is a hub for people in the community who want to learn and for those who wish to teach. Special classes for adults include:

Preparation for the GED Test

Ever wish you’d finished high school? Need your GED to get that new job or to get back on track with your life? The Library at Cedar Creek Lake provides free GED classes every Tuesday and Thursday from 5 pm – 7 pm.

Participants can get help with any or all of the four subject areas:

  • English
  • Math
  • Science
  • Social Studies

All prospective students will be given a pre-test to see where you are currently at in the curriculum.

Most of the volunteers who provide this FREE one-on-one tutoring are retired school teachers so you know you’re getting great help! Over the years, the library has helped numerous adults work towards gaining their GED.

GED Study via the Computer

If you prefer to study on your own, The Library at Cedar Creek Lake provides digital access to Learning Express Library. This computer-based program has a GED study/preparation module.

Adult Literacy Classes (Learn To Read)

Everyone deserves the opportunity to learn to read. If you know someone who has trouble reading or who can’t read at all, please let them know about our adult literacy (learn to read) classes. We can accommodate people who simply fell through the cracks of the schooling system, those with learning challenges such as dyslexia and people who have suffered a trauma.

The Adult Literacy program consists of one-on-one instruction using workbooks, phonetic flashcards, and computer programs. The program utilizes a multi-sensory approach, emphasizing auditory, visual, and kinesthetic motor processing.

English As A Second Language (ESL)

If you would like to improve your English or if you know someone who cannot speak English at all, please contact us at the library. These classes are taught by volunteers and they are FREE!
